Why Fit, 50 and Fabulous?

I clearly remember a defining point in my late 20s when I decided that I HAD to do something to maintain my fitness and activity level so I could continue to enjoy my mobility and freedom as I aged. I watched a woman who at the age that I am now, struggle to walk up a flight of stairs. At that point, I decided that was NEVER going to be me, so I committed to staying active. Eating better took another 30 years.

In all that time, I've learned a lot and want to share that with you. Being fit and healthy doesn't mean you have to give up the foods you love, do hours of endless cardio that you hate, or make monthly donations to a gym you never go to. Using a real common sense approach, you can get and stay active, eat better and improve your life!

Who Am I?

I'm Jamy, a 50-something-year-old Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certified Nutrition Coach and "lifetime fitness enthusiast" with a perpetual desire (and struggle) to stay active, eat better, lose weight, look young forever, and someday retire. I'm an avid reader of anything on fitness and nutrition, with a passion for weight training, yoga, and hiking. I hate the idea of "dieting" and envy those who run as a form of exercise. I am also probably the laziest person I know.

Why You Should Read My Stuff

I'm a real person, just like you. What you see is what you get. I am not a fitness model. I have belly blubber and back fat. I'm a middle aged woman with bad knees, bad hips, and have a serious problem with eating raw cookie dough out of plastic sleeves. I also think french fries should be a major food group.

Despite that, I still manage to exercise nearly every day (okay, 3 - 5 days a week), I strive to make good food choices 80% of the time, and with that, was able to lose 20 pounds. I had to learn how to do all of that. I did all that well after I turned 50.

What I Can Do For You

I'm here to show you that you can do everything I did, even starting at age 50 or beyond. I can show you how to improve your level of activity or fitness, and teach you how to eat better so that you can lose weight without magic potions, hours in a gym you hate going to, starvation diets, useless juice cleanses and bogus fat burning pills.

I'll provide real information that's really relatable and can be applied to YOUR life - not that of a random airbrushed fitness model or celebrity.

I'll give you guidance and recommendations on exercise programs and options that fit your life and your lifestyle. I'll tell you how you can finally learn how to eat better. For me, that included some harsh self-talk about the what, when and why of my eating patterns and habits.

You CAN make positive changes to your life that benefit your health and well-being.

You CAN build or rebuild yourself to achieve a level of fitness that provides independence and mobility well into your 70s, 80s and beyond.

You CAN be Fit, 50 and Fabulous!
