If there’s one thing in life that’s true, its that change is constant. Where you are now is unlikely where you were 5 years ago. It’s unlikely to be the place where you will be 5 years from now.
If you’d asked me 5 years ago what my vision board looked like, it would look vastly different than it does now. I was living in a place I’d coveted my entire life, but working in a job I didn’t like at all. Since then I’ve moved 2,000 miles away from where I was, and in a job I never thought I’d have. Life happens, things change.
If change is constant, I recently wondered – should my Vision Board change?
Why My Vision Board Won’t Change….For Now
The things that are on my vision board now are the things I’ve craved my entire life.
I’ve wanted to be an entrepreneur and own my own business for as long as I can remember. I was never really sure ‘what’ I wanted that business to be. That piece of my vision board jelled most recently.
Having moved away from the place I covet the most in the world, I want to move back to the desert in the worst way. That will not change. Whether I’m in Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada or West Texas, the once place I know I want to be is in the desert.
My Vision Board is mainly comprised of goals I hope to achieve upon retirement from my current job in less than 5 years. If I continue to manifest those goals and take positive action every day, no matter how small the steps, I fully expect that I will be successful.
Why My Vision Board Might Change
As I mentioned earlier, change is inevitable. With that, there are certainly ways in which my board might change.
Ford might not ever release their new Bronco, and if they do, I might not like it. Or it might no longer be practical for me to own such a vehicles.
I might decide that blogging is not for me and that is not the business I wish to pursue. Or maybe someone presents me with a different option for remaining employed beyond my current 4 year retirement plan.
All of my goals fundamentally change altogether, making my vision board completely invalid. The future is unknown and at any time, can be decided for us, despite my best planning.
Best case scenario, I achieve all of my goals that are laid on my Vision Board and I seek out new ones.
Remembering the Purpose of a Vision Board
Vision Boards are a visual manifestation of your dreams and goals. It’s intent is to serve as a daily reminder of what you wish to achieve. In it’s visual format, it serves to encourage you to take small steps every day to brings your dreams and goals to life.
If your current vision board isn’t representative of where you want to be, by all means, change it up. In fact, it might not be a bad idea to consider re-evaluating your vision board annually. It keeps your dream fresh and in the forefront of your mind.
Day 7: I challenge YOU to post one Vision Board picture a day for 10 days. No explanation, no review, just the picture. Nominate someone else to do the same!
